G’day, I’m Carmen Leyland, and welcome to my world of adventure!
If you’ve ever wondered who Carmen Leyland is, or what it’s like growing up as the daughter of legendary Australian explorer Mal Leyland, I’d love to share a little of my story with you.
For me, the name Leyland represents more than the famous Leyland Brothers television adventures. It represents family, discovery, storytelling and a lifelong love of exploring Australia.
Today, I’m proud to continue that tradition through Leylands Travel Australia, sharing the spirit of adventure with a new generation of travellers.
But for me, the Leyland Brothers story has always been much more than a television series. It’s part of my family, my heritage and my life.
And now, I’m incredibly proud to be helping carry that spirit of adventure into a new generation.
Carmen Leyland – Growing Up with the Leyland Brothers
When your father is one half of the famous Leyland Brothers, adventure is never very far away.
The Leyland Brothers inspired generations of Australians to pack up their cars, hitch up their caravans and discover what lay beyond the next bend in the road.
Their journeys weren’t just about reaching a destination. They were about the people they met, the stories they uncovered, the challenges they faced and the extraordinary beauty of Australia.
That spirit of curiosity, discovery and adventure is something I treasure.
And it’s something I want to share with you.

Today, together with my husband Jon, I’m building the next chapter of our family’s travel story through Leylands Travel Australia.
We’re combining the wonderful tradition of Leyland Brothers storytelling with a fresh approach to exploring Australia.
Through our travels, our YouTube channel and our personally hosted tours, we’re discovering incredible destinations, uncovering fascinating histories and introducing people to the characters and communities that make this country so special.
Jon is the man behind the cameras, capturing our adventures from the ground and the air, while I have the pleasure of bringing those stories to life.
We’re not trying to recreate the past.
We’re celebrating it, preserving its spirit and creating new adventures of our own.
Why I Love Personally Hosting Our Tours
For me, travel is about so much more than ticking destinations off a bucket list.
It’s about standing in a tiny outback town and discovering a story you never expected. It’s about sharing a laugh with the locals, watching the landscape change through a train window and experiencing those magical moments that stay with you long after you’ve returned home.
That’s what I want our tours to be.

I’ll be there sharing the journey, discovering the sights alongside you, swapping stories and enjoying the wonderful experiences that make travelling together so memorable.

Keeping the Spirit of Adventure Alive
The Leyland Brothers helped Australians see their own country through different eyes.
They showed us that adventure didn’t have to mean travelling halfway around the world. Sometimes it was waiting just beyond the next dusty horizon.
That’s a legacy I’m enormously proud of.
But I also believe there are still so many stories waiting to be told, so many places waiting to be explored and so many adventures yet to be shared.
Through Leylands Travel Australia, I hope to inspire people to keep exploring, to embrace new experiences and to discover the remarkable places and people that make Australia unique.
And perhaps, along the way, we’ll make a little history of our own.
